About XAT

XAT is conducted by XLRI on behalf of XAMI (Xavier’s Association of Management Institutes). XAT is conducted, at All Indian level, by XLRI to select aspirants for admission into the respective management programs. The XAT score is considered by more than 150 management institutes for admission into its courses.

XAT 2018: Eligibility

  • No Age Bar

    There are no restrictions for candidates seeking admissions to XAT member and associate institutions on the basis of their age.

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent course from a recognised university

    All candidates who hold a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline or have completed an equivalent course with a minimum duration of 3 years are eligible to apply for XAT 2018. This includes completed professional degrees like CA, CS, ICWA, etc.

  • Final year of Graduation

    Final year graduation students who shall complete all their exams by June 10, 2018 are also eligible to apply for XAT 2018.

  • GMAT scores

    NRI and foreign candidates can apply XAT member and associated institutes through GMAT scores. However, candidates in Dubai and Kathmandu have to appear for the exam in their respective centres.

XAT 2018: Admit Card

All candidates who had successfully registered for XAT 2018 can download their admit cards from the official XAT Online page from December 20, 2017 onwards.

Candidates are required to log in with their registered ID and password in order to download their admit card. The window for downloading XAT 2018 admit cards will be closed on December 31, 2017.

XAT 2018: Exam Pattern

For the first time in its history, XAT will be conducted online. Since 2016, XAT exam pattern has undergone significant changes not only in its structure but also in its content.

While the number of questions may vary this year, the sections will remain the same. Some important points about the expected XAT 2018 exam pattern have been noted below:

  • The paper has two parts. The first part of the paper consists of three sections namely Decision making, Verbal ability & Logical ability, and Quantitative ability & Data Interpretation
  • The second part of the paper consists of essay writing and questions testing your general awareness
  • The total duration is 210 mins. The first part is of 170 mins and the second part is of 40 mins
  • There is a negative marking of 1/4th of the marks allotted for every question attempted incorrectly. Students have the option of not attempting 8 questions after which every unattempted question will incur a negative marking of 0.05

XAT 2018: Preparation

Since 2016, the XAT exam pattern has undergone significant changes not only in structure but also in content. It won't be surprising to note a few changes in XAT 2018 as well.

In order to ace XAT, you need not attempt all the questions. Even half of the paper, attempted right, could get you 95+ percentile. Therefore, it becomes important to maximise your correct attempts and minimise incorrect ones Given this, the best possible way to prepare for XAT 2018 exam is to understand your strengths and weaknesses and work upon them. This can be best achieved by attempting XAT mocks and previous year's exam papers.
